DigiPlex win at DCD awards.

DigiPlex win “Operations Team of the Year” at the 2017 DCD Awards.

DigiPlex has once again reaffirmed its position as the Nordic leader for innovative and sustainable data centres, by winning the “Data Center Operations Team of the Year – Colo+Cloud” at the annual DCD Awards. DigiPlex won the award for their outstanding work in upgrading their data centre at Ulven in Oslo.

Often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the data center industry, the DCD Awards have gone global this year, encompassing all regions recognizing worldwide excellence in the data centre industry. DigiPlex’ facility at Ulven has been operating 17 years with solid uptime performance, undertaking a significant systems upgrade in 2016 without interrupting its service – a complex task requiring exceptional technical skill.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award for our work at Ulven. The upgrade we undertook allows us to provide a greener, more resilient and energy efficient data centre, which benefits our customers. I am proud of the team which delivered an extensive upgrade on a live data centre while maintaining our record of uptime,” says Gisle M. Eckhoff, CEO of DigiPlex.

The “Data Center Operations Team of the Year – Colo+Cloud” award recognises a team who has excelled in providing the mission critical part of a customer organisation’s IT equation. It highlights a team who has gone above and beyond everyday duties to their customers.

“A key lesson learned from this project was that by combining the Operations Team and the Development Team into a single entity, DigiPlex was able to achieve a goal more effectively than either team could have, working separately. New customers can see how committed the team has been when working proactively to reduce costs and improve resilience,” says Eckhoff.

In early 2016, a team of experts from DigiPlex set out to make fundamental improvements to the facility’s energy efficiency and resilience. The improvements involved creating state-of-the-art computer room air conditioning (CRAC) by rebuilding the units in-situ as well as modifying the chilled water pumps. The result is a future-proof data centre, which ensures customers benefit from reduced operating costs.

DigiPlex aim to set the standard for best practice within the data centre industry. Its innovative and sustainable centres are a product of this goal, and are receiving an increasing amount international recognition. Recently the company won the Above and Beyond Award at the DataCloud Europe conference, Europe’s largest computer centre exhibition. The jury stating that DigiPlex had gone to great lengths for their customers and had done outstanding work with upgrading their data centre at Ulven in Oslo, Norway. In May, DigiPlex also won the Outstanding Big Data Management Solution Award at the Big Data and IoT Excellence Awards in London, held by Computing Magazine. In April they were included, as the only Nordic company, on CIOReview’s list of 20 Most Promising Data Center Solution Providers 2017.
