DigiPlex enters Danish market.
DigiPlex announces entry into Danish market by opening the company’s first co-location data centre in Copenhagen.
“Denmark is a very interesting market that is attracting hyperscale data centre investments and seeing increased co-location demand. The Danish Government has taken the right steps in creating the optimum conditions for a thriving data centre industry. We believe the Danish market will continue to see rapid growth and look forward to helping both Danish and international companies accelerate their digital transformation.” Says Byrne Murphy, Chairman and Founder of DigiPlex.
Invest in Denmark, which has assisted several of the world’s large tech companies to establish hyperscale data centres in Denmark, advised DigiPlex in the process of entering Denmark.
The Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen is delighted: ”Denmark has succeeded in attracting significant data centre investments and investments in fiber connections to the US and Ireland. These investments contribute significantly to our Danish digital growth potential. We are proud that DigiPlex with their 17-year track record and focus on innovative and sustainable data centres has decided to place their next data centre in Copenhagen. This confirms the attractiveness of Denmark as the premier data centre destination for both hyperscale developments and leading co-location providers
The data centre is located in central Copenhagen and was previously owned and operated by Telia. In a sale and leaseback transaction between the two companies, ownership of the facility is transferred to DigiPlex and Telia becomes the data centre’s first anchor customer. The DigiPlex Copenhagen data centre is now run and operated by DigiPlex award winning operations team and is ready to take onboard new customers immediately.
“As the leading Nordic data centre operator, entering Denmark is a natural step in our evolution. The acquisition of this site gives us an instant presence in central Copenhagen and we are ready to welcome new customers immediately. Our aim is to be the market leader in each Nordic market we operate in and we are investigating both greenfield and brownfield sites as part of the next step of our expansion.” Says Gisle M. Eckhoff, CEO of DigiPlex.
“The agreement is a very good agreement for Telia and our customers. Our customers will be serviced by a leading data centre operator, while we at Telia can focus on our core business of creating value through superior network connectivity”, concludes Kristine Kyllesbech Rasmussen, Program Office Lead of Telia.
